SyncingSpace.org is an online art residency for artists with autism and learning disabilities, a project by Sarah Pickthall, Co-Founder & Director of Sync Leadership (the United Kingdom) in collaboration with Armani Shahrin, Founder of NakSeni (Malaysia). With great support from British Council via the #ConnectionsThroughCulture programme 24/25, this is the first international collaboration between the two organisations (Sync Leadership & NakSeni) and four participating artists, namely Andi Miranti (MY), Charlotte Stephens (UK), Izzati Shahrin (MY) and Thompson Hall (UK). Graced by Chairman of OKU Sentral, YB Senator (R) Datuk (Dr) Ras Adiba Radzi and distinguished honorable guests from various backgrounds, the online site was officially launched in conjunction with World Autism Awareness Month, on 4th April 2025 at British Council, Kuala Lumpur together with a physical pop-up exhibition showcasing the artworks of the participating artists. Visitors were able to immerse themselves in the art via a digital art projection booth. Visitors were able to also learn about the weekly sessions that were held during the 6-week online residency via live-scribe illustrations done by artist Annalees Lim (UK). The purpose of this residency is not just to highlight the artistic talents of these artists but also to spark inspiration and bring awareness that these PWD artists are also natural leaders in their work. This residency programme explored their leadership styles and metaphors which helped to further develop their confidence and autonomy to make positive impact in their lives. The event included Sign Language interpretation throughout and ended with a live sharing session with all participating artists including the two UK artists online, supported by @projectartworks and @actionspace in the UK.
