Ong Yong Da (born in Nov, year 1996) has limited speech but his cheerful smile will always brighten up your day. Though his words may be few but every bit of him- his actions, the way he connects with people either in his art or his smile- speaks of a boy who carries the message of love.
Yong Da has shown a love for drawing since young, spending hours doodling with crayon and color pencils. He started acrylic painting since year 2006. Since then, he has actively participated in many exhibitions & auctions locally and internationally organized by parents’ support group of Autism, Rotary Club, Charity Foundations & NGOs to raise funds for and spread awareness of people with special needs.
Yong Da has also actively participated in Art Expo Malaysia from 2011 to 2014 and his artworks have been included in the collections of art collectors in their galleries, corporate offices and homes.
In March 2020, he was commissioned to create his biggest canvas painting ever with the size of 213cm x 152 cm (7’x 5’). This beautiful painting image then has been selected to be used in the Anika , insurance broking company for year 2022 calendar as paintings for Art Collectors.
In 2021, he was one of the ten winners of IM Group Foundation’s International Arts competition to exhibit in Italy in year 2023.
In March 2022, Yong Da has ventured into the newly emerging world of non-fungible tokens (NFT) and crypto currency after being commissioned to create NFT artwork, following the footsteps of talented Malaysian artists successfully launching their NFT collections in year 2021.
Other than painting and making pottery sculptures and tableware, Yong Da also loves travelling and hiking. He also plays the piano and likes to bake in his free time.
